Women’s Full Moon Retreat in Bali

AUgust 15-24, 2024

Immerse in your White Crane Silat practice, in equanimous company of other women, and in light of the Full Moon. In this nine day retreat, we take advantage of twice daily practice in a traditional Balinese setting overlooking rice fields, and in view of Gunung Agung. Delicious organic food, nature hikes, sacred waters, temple blessings, cultural tours and performances, exploration of Balinese textiles and handicrafts, and plenty of relaxation compliment our daily Silat practices. We’ll explore the morning breathing and enjoy both morning and evening movement sessions. With daily practice we integrate our bodies and spirits, deeply attuning to the rhythms of silat. Maggie is your guide, tailoring the practice and experience to you. Cultivate your strength, flexibility, endurance, relaxation, harmony, flow, refreshment and inner illumination.

Location

Our home for nine days is the Nirarta Center for Living Awareness. Nirarta nestles above the Unda River, beyond the village of Tabola, about 1.5 kilometres from the village of Sidemen. The gardens and grounds are surrounded by rice fields and in view of Gunung Agung, Bali’s sacred mother volcano.

ACcomodation

The Nirarta center has 11 guest rooms in six bungalows, each with delightful views. The bungalows offer a choice of accommodation to suit different budgets. Single rooms and double/shared occupancy are available.

Meals

Fresh, organic, vegetarian meals are served three times a day. Much of the produce we’ll enjoy is grown on the retreat center grounds or within walking distance. Vegan, gluten-free, and other special diets can be accommodated with advance inquiry. Additional tea/coffee service is provided twice daily.

Cultural

Encounter the ceremonies and rituals which are part of daily Balinese life. Learn the art of making flower offerings. Be blessed by a Balinese priest(ess). Traverse to a misty temple in the jungle. Hike Gunung Agung to see the sun rise. Explore the traditional local markets for exotic fruits, textiles, and local handicrafts. Enjoy a Balinese dance or gamelan music performance. Wade in the Unda River. Some of these activities will be explored together as a group. You will have free time to explore on your own as well.
